You put up a website with your name on it, and right away everyone expects that you're going to say something about yourself. It makes sense, I get it. And truth be told, that is part of why I did it. But it's true what they say "Writing HTML is easy, filling it with content is the hard part.". Okay, I don't know if anyone says that, but it's true.
So this website with my name on it is here because I'm a software development / techie / IT kinda guy. Believe it or not, I enjoy doing this sort of thing in my spare time, even though I do stuff like this at my day job. Well, not exactly like this, custom software integration for government access control systems is a little different than casual website hacking, but it's all just code underneath, right?
I guess I consider myself a full stack developer, if even the term is getting a little dated. It seems to do a good job of describing someone who loves to makes software "do things", from top to bottom, and that's me. I like to create web applications, then write the APIs to connect them to some data and maybe even toss in an Android app for good measure.
I also really like to make things that help other developers get stuff done. For instance, I've built a few Software Development Kits for Android and Python.
And I've done a little NodeJs development for the API that those SDKs connect to.
There's more, like back when I worked in Tech Support, or when I managed a Software Engineering team. But if I put all that up here, it wouldn't be a summary anymore, right? If you're interested in all that stuff, check out the Skills and/or Experience sections of the site further down. Or download my resume. Or heck, email me and I'll give you the whole story of my work life first hand.
At any rate, this site is neither a resume nor an advertisement. Although it might serve as a nice addition to either, should the need arise. It's mainly for fun. A place to try out new tools or techniques and sharpen my skills. And, it's a tiny little bit to prove to a few people that I could and would do it.
The plan is that scottshie.com will grow and change as I do, over time. So feel free to check back once in while.
Have a Good One!
